Week Two.

Again, we talked about music and how it is portrayed in poetry. We looked at how to find the up beat and down beats in the stanzas. We also looked at a poem, and how it put a picture in your mind. In class we looked at the poem, and how the person used very descriptive words. It was a fun exercise in class. Then we were asked to write in the style of blues. Which is very repetitive, and follows certain rules about how the stanzas are wrote.

I think writing in the style of blues is really difficult. I also think, following the "blues" themes of love, heartache, and injustice are hard to follow. I feel when I have to write a poem about something very specific, or for a theme, I get writers block. The good thing is that I am being challenged. I am currently trying to figure out what to write about for my blues poem, but I see to have writers block.

I think writing in the style of blues is a certain cultural type of writing style, and I am excited to try to copy that style, it is just a bit difficult. It is also hard to write in that style when I feel like I am lacking inspiration. I feel like, if I had recently been treated unjustly, I would have good inspiration for writing a good blues poem. I feel like with blues, these themes might bring up a lot of ethical issues with the way people are treated, because one theme is about injustice.
