Our first assignment with Plath was to simply read her biography along with three of her most famous writings, and then use one of her first lines as the beginning of our poems. I chose the first line in "Lady Lazarus" which was, I have done it again. For some odd reason, that line grabbed my attention right away, which I used to write about my smoking habit. At this time, I am still debating on which poem I want to choose to annotate, and then also write my own poem in that particular style. On the other hand, as the semester continues moving forward, I am noticing that my interest in poetry keeps expanding!
Just as I stated previously, Sylvia Plath is a unique, creative poet! Plath's creativity has made me realize that poems do not need to have the same strategy each and every time, but to have my own secretive style, however it best fits in my writings. Another great thing I noticed about Sylvia Plath's writings in general, was how well they all flowed. Some poems were way different than others that she has written, but in within themselves, they all flow very fluently together. Due to the fact that I am not very familiar with many poets, learning about her, and reading her different poems has me eager for the many more poets I still have yet to learn about.
