Blog 2

Reading about Blues poetry and how it all works has been rather interesting. I think what I like the most from this is the way things are structured, so that it is all a sound. Reading through the poems I found myself singing them in my head rather than reading them and that was a nice new experience. Although I'm not sure which of the poems I preferred, I have to admit.

One thing I had some trouble with was coming up with a good theme for the Blues poetry. I mean, I understand that one could pick lost love, but I tried to expand on it too. I hope I did all right of course. I experimented a little and tried to leave my poem open to interpretation as to who the speaker was referring to and what relationship he/she had with the other...person. Another thing I liked was the connection between the growth of poetry, and the growth of music, and of course, how it all connects to the blues. It just goes to show how much influence one genre can really had on everything-at least art wise.

Inspiration from blues was both good and kind of bad for me. I would be inspired at times and others I would be ready to go and read something a bit happier. Maybe it's because some of the other blues poems I read had to do with lost love more than anything. I can deal with all sorts of 'angst' but I always feel bad for the hero, in a sense, when he doesn't get his girl. Throw him in a pit of lava or have him try to survive some other tragedy, but I can get a little too into the whole romance prospect.
