Still not quite sure if this is going to go through correctly, but here goes nothing.
During
the first week we discussed different types of ways that poetry can be
written and read. This referring to line breaks, stressed and
unstressed syllables, rhyming and overall rhythm. We looked into the
ways words can have layers of meanings that may not always be apparent.
My largest struggle with our discussions is trying to decide when a
syllable is being stressed, I tend to over think things like this and
then try to justify why all syllables should be stressed. I like to
write comedic in most cases so I guess I'll just start with a completely
broad idea and widdle it down into something that can be regarded as
poetry and work from there. Since this is going to be a challenge for
me, I believe it will be enjoyable because I'll be fully engaged and
forced into a creative state of mind.
With the readings,
specifically the poems that I've come across this week, my largest
question would be: Where is the inspiration coming from for these
works? A lot of the material is kind of far out there and extremely
random. I haven't seen any pattern with the type of poets that we have
looked at and why the hodgepodge comes together like this. That's why
I'm in the class though so I hope to get better at figuring all of this
out in the near future.
I had to create a new google account just to do this blog, why is umail blocked from this? It seems that this should be considered a university function.....
