More short shorts, huh? Well bring them on! I'm actually really enjoying myself here, with the short shorts and everything. A lot of them are really good so far, and the Indiana Review book has a lot of good ones so I hope we get to go more in depth with that book. Of course, I want to write a lot of stories as well, though the thought of trying to imitate a particular style seems a little daunting. But that's what this class is all about-no turning back now! Besides, it'll probably turn out better than what I'm thinking it will be, I'm just a bit of of a pessimist sometimes (and other times an optimists, so really, I have no idea what I am).
As for the assignment we had to do-I hope I did it right. I'm always saying something along those lines, I know, but I really am worried. I mean, I think I found the cliches and managed to make them sound really good, and then I found some of the other bits and managed to change them up, but I can never be to certain, you know? I still have to turn that in actually...I'll do that as soon as I am done here. I chose one of my poems instead of a story. As bad as it sounds, I did it because it would be shorter. I have a portfolio due for creative writing and I needed the time this weekend for that more than anything.
These stories though-they are rather inspiring! It even managed to awaken my desire to write in first person again! I've been rather stuck (well, I guess it's not stuck if I'm enjoying myself, but still) writing int he various styles of third person, but some of the first person ones have got me all excited again at the thought of writing in such a style. Of course, I'm probably a little bit rusty, but that's what this class is for, right? I feel like I really blathered in this blog entry-I hope not though. My thoughts are just kind of crazy right now.
