Week 7!

This week we have talked a lot about Short Stories. We learned of the basics of what a story is and what defines a short story. We learned of vocabulary and we read stories. In groups we read stories and we analyzed using the terms we just learned earlier in class.

Currently I am working on writing personal essays/entries. Basically I’ve been writing in a journal a couple times a week mainly when no one is around to talk or if I don’t want anyone to know. I tend to write angry rants and sad entries, leaving the happy memories to daydreams. I’ve realized after reading some of these entries some lines sound almost poetic or just certain phrases would be perfect in a poem. I just haven’t gotten around to actually trying piecing the phrases and lines together in a poem.

Artistic process can come in many forms majority being, of course, individual. I believe writing in a diary/journal can help in the artistic process. Writing your feelings, every emotion, even if it’s in a garbled frenzied mess can help you sort out your feelings and you may even get some decent lines or phrases for your next poem. I think figuring out your feelings before you write a definite poem will help your poem much more. You’ll be clear and focused, not veering off topic and emotions.
