This week we began looking at examples of flash fiction or short shorts and what characteristics they have. We got into groups and were assigned a flash fiction story and analyzed it to break it down to our fellow peer.
I honestly did not know the direct these flash fiction were going to take me. At first, I expected to be just like other short stories I have read in the past, boring. I found them very entertaining and liked how it does not follow the same old routine to tell a story. I like stories that start in the middle or the new term we learned for it " In media res". I am currently working on the flash fiction assignment. The transition from poetry to flash fiction should be easy. I am not entirely sure if my story is any good; writing story has not been my best area of writing in the past, as long as I imitate someone I guess I am headin in the right path.
Ethical principals should not apply necessarily to art; it is more of a personal choice of the artist as to what is to be censored. Artists should be able to freely vent out their frustation, illuminate with their joy, and cast a shadow of depression onto their work. That being said, there might not be mature enough audience members out there and might distort their views on life. Art is freedom in which our creativity should not conform to anything but ourselves.
